Hi, Am after a decent but not too expensive bar for some beginner Olympic lifting in the garage. Have got cheap bumpers and a platform sorted. Please can anyone offer advice on any of the following from personal experience - from my research the specs look to be good for the price? Freedom strength bar currently on sale £153.99 new on eBay https://freedomstrength.co.uk/shop/premium-sprung-steel-1500lbs-olympic-bar UKSF Cronus barbell £162 new on eBay https://www.uksupremefitness.co.uk/cronos-olympic-barbell Both seem to have decently rated steel and needle bearings so would hope them to be plenty good enough for my needs but any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated. Freedom strength one looks better on paper but knurling stops short of the sleeves which I've read isn't the best for doing snatches. Cheers

The IPF approved list doesn't contain any knee sleeves from Titan/inzer/metal or anyone else from what I can see, just knee wraps. The new 'classic' rules do list approved manufacturers to be fair but it wasnt a 'classic' rules comp. I therefore thought, as per the rule book, that a neoprene knee sleeve would be allowed. It only says wraps need be from the approved list, not knee sleeves.

I was told that they were not on the approved list, and also that they looked like they would give too much support and assistance because they were 'rubberised' but I was welcome to wear those cheap blue ones from the pound shop (although I don't think those are on the approved list either?). Not that bothered but would be nice if there was clear guidance. The type and material look to be within the rules so If its the logo that's a problem I'll happily scratch it off or take a black marker to it. Cheers |
