Superb squatting Mark, 200 is a big milestone, 220 will be next big one, get the 5 plates. Yeah the FITT should be good, the only downside is that it's due to rain pretty bad.

Yeah having a log is great, the only downside of our log is that it's 90kg unloaded. It's massively different from pressing on a bar or axle as it's really awkward and is so far out in front of you.

Overhead tonight.

Strict Press.

50kg X 5
60kg X 4 sets of 5
70kg X 1, PB, but this is the first time I've ever tried to max out on strict press.

Log.

90kg X 3
95kg X 2 fails
90kg X 2 sets of 3 and 1 set of 4

Circus dumbell.

30kg X 5, both hands
40kg X 3, both hands

Pretty average session tonight, fairly knackered after nightshifts all week and my shoulders are pretty fried after pressing earlier in the week.

I was reliably informed by Austen who made the log at results that he made it to the standard IFSA spec.

Front Squats tonight.

Front Squat:
Warm up to 60kg

80kg X 5
100kg X 5
110kg X 8
130kg X 1
150kg X 1 PB, fell forward a bit with this one and thought I was going to rip my left bicep off trying to hold onto the bar. Probably could have gone heavier but thought I'd leave a bit left in the tank.

Overhead Squats:

60kg X 4 sets of 8

Powercleans:

90kg X 4 sets of 3

Walking lunges:

50kg across the car park and back which is about 30m each way.

Another good session tonight.

Yeah, trying to stick in with the training and come in with some good form, should be a really good day and quite looking forward to get a shot of the Fingals Finger.

Mostly training for a bit of speed as the likes of the Pressing Medley and Farmers will be more about speed than pure strength. Still really looking forward to all of the events except the deadlift hold.

Your training seems to be going well for the comp.

Deadlifting again today,

Deadlift:

Warmup to 140kg

150kg X 5
170kg X 5
190kg X 7, rep PB
210kg X 2
230kg X fail, almost had it but stalled about my knees and just couldn't quite get it.

Bent Over Rows:

105kg X 4 sets of 5

Farmers:

100kg X 3 lengths of 20m, was gonna go for another one but slightly tore a callus on my left pinky so decided to call it a day there rather than cause any more damage to my hand.

Tyre Flip:

180-200kg tyre for 2 sets of 12 flips in about 45-50 seconds for each set.

Good solid session today, bit pissed off to miss the 230kg deadlift but chuffed with 190kg for 7.

Yeah, planning to go down and watch how the real strongmen do things. Give me something to aim for and you never know, might even be strong enough to compete next year. I take it you're goin? I'll come over and say hi if I see you down there.

Cheers Mark, it was that fiasco with the log up in Fraserburgh that spurred me on to improve my overhead and it's now actually one of my better events as a result.

Congrats, some quality lifting there and those squats were proper deep,must be chuffed to go 8 from 9 as well.
