He's impressed me the most this time around! Very good to watch and a serious contender going forwards IMO

Congrats to Eddie though; he's proved a lot of folk wrong, including myself as I said I didn't think he'd do it, but he has and it's great to have the title back on these shores Grin

Thor, well, life's a b**ch at times, you've just gotta accept it, crack on and come back stronger! Shaw, for me, ran out of steam and has been shown to have a few areas he's not as good on, as we all thought he'd be, but do think that Ed and Thor (more so) have improved massively in those areas! Thors pressing has come on leaps and bounds!

Z, he competed and I'd say that'll be good enough for him! We all knew and he knew he was nowhere near 100%, but still got to the finals! I do wonder if this will be his year of retirement too, or whether he'll give it one last bash and be done! 50/50 for me on that!

Carrying a nerve injury; impinged it whilst doing a 750kg super yoke!

It's really held him back and unfortunately, I'd say this will be near the end for Z now; he's nothing to prove anymore. Already done what he's achieved and still the best all round lifter there has been IMO

I hate to say it, but he's so much stronger than Savickas.

Bit of an obvious statement seeing as Z is carrying an injury still; clearly hasn't recovered and also Shaw has age on his side

He said he was still having problems with his nerves and his neck when i spoke to him..

This; last mention of his injury, by himself on his Instagram and not 'hear say' was that his neck is still causing him issues and it's affecting his shoulder(s)

I know and understand this pain; impinged my ulnar nerve a few times now and have issues with my C5/C6; it can be a sod to press OH at times; other times I feel as strong as an ox!

Just seen Z's reps on the axle via FB...

The lad looks a bit knackered IMO; either that, or he was just coasting... He was up against Nick Best who only got one rep

Yeah I think I seen Thor (not a clear video) barely finish the course and couldn't actually drag it at all. Massive cock up in weight by wsm. If some don't have that in the qualifiers it could definitely play a role in the finals.

This vid?

Improve your flexibility, a lot!

Stretch, a lot!

Watch techniques on Youtube and just have a go at them IMO; it's a good way to learn

Improving your squat and aiding your shoulder/tricep strength would be a good way to go as these will be what you use most

Also learn to do high cleans/pulls and do explosive upright rows to aid in the initial cleaning of the weight off the floor for both snatch and C&J

It's real; on the lift off he's shaking like a s**tting dog, so theres some weight on the bar!

+1 too that would be interested to see what his 1RM is!

For me, you're comparing Stilton with Lancashire Crumbly...

Shaw, currently & IMO, is in his prime and will get better for another year or so, others are catching up, but not quite there

Z, IMO, is passed his prime and so Shaw is taking over...

Shaw couldn't beat Z in his prime; he kept up with him, but didn't beat him...

Don't forget Z held records on the stones, on the carry, on the yoke as well as log, fingles fingers etc... All that's changing, again and as it should

No, the only thing we could probably bank on Z winning would be the log, but even then, with recently clips being shown, Shaw looks very good on the log! But he's still not up there with Z

AdamT said:Lucky for Z, isn't the same age. Z wouldn't of won near as much and Shaw would have far more accolades. Shaw is a stronger man!

Overall, Shaw is becoming better... But I wouldn't say he's stronger... Yet!

He's on a par with what Z was when he wasn't as injured, but Shaw, as far as I can recall, hasn;t out-squatted or out-pressed Z yet... 2 huge strongman disciplines... Until then...
