200kg on an oly bar... Never really pushed it on this, so this'll spur me on to now Grin

173kg (t**t) on my axle... This is a priority this year, so will keep reporting back with updates!

BW 136kg

Sounds like an impinged nerve or issues with a facet joint etc pal...

Get yourself to an OSTEOPATH, not a chiropractor and they'll tell you straight away what you've done. It could also be elsewhere in your back/neck, but the pains being 'referred' elsewhere, namely your legs and ass!

A good sports Physio will be able to help also, but the osteopath will sort out any skeletal/nerve issues first and then take it from there Happy

I get issues with a trapped nerve feeling in my right ass cheek/lower back and 9/10 its issues I have with my C5/C6 issues in my lower neck!

f**king piss-take they didn't show Thors pressing!

Politics, or just f**ked up editing?!?!

By far the best performance on that platform, cleaned each rep easy and pressed them, easy!!!

It's gonna be Thor - Shaw now for the next few years, unless a newcomer shows his stuff!

As much as I'd love to see it, it's been a longtime since an Englishman has won WSM, Eddie ain't gonna cut it!

Just watched the final (couldn't be arsed to watch the heats) Grin

This was a pure power show IMO and the 3 biggest/strongest guys got podium!

Would have been interesting to see how Z may have jumbled this up, wondering if he'd have come 3rd and Eddie 4th, or vice-versa...

Anyways; great showing from the top 3, Shaw won comfortably IMO

Thor really needs to improve on a few areas or he'll never win WSM. IMO, Eddie has a lot more improvements to make, namely dropping weight and adding more fitness, and then he'll be a force to be reckoned with.. Until then, Thor and Shaw will put and keep him in his place...

Eddie is an absolute powerhouse and can't see anyone in the world more statically stronger than him; but this is his strength and weakness!

The other 2 that really impressed me were Janashia & Kieliskowski. 2 youngsters to be reckoned with come the very near future! They've a lot of learning to do, but I'd say if they stay fit and healthy, they'll be back right up there for the next WSM etc

Nah man, you don't know what you're talking about.
He's finished, that last outing was a complete embarrassment and a massive insult to all his fans the world over.
It's not as if he's the most successful / experienced strongman to ever walk the face of the earth - he's clearly got no idea what he's doing.
Colin Bryce shouldn't let him compete anymore to save face for his legacy!

Can he get into porn now then?!

I'd never write him off until he officially states he's done!

He's lost a massive amount of weight to aid recovery; if that's all sorted, no doubt he'll be back on the power-bulk to get back to where he was!

His showing at that last comp was just to show face; he and all the other guys competing knew he wouldn't place well due to the weight/power lost and the fact that he's been recovering from a few injuries/niggles etc...

Unless it comes to clear that he's staying at this lower weight in the next few weeks or so, I'd say no-one will be stupid to declare 'he's finished'!

??!!

You either know nothing about strongman, or you're just another hater..

When has Z ever made a fool of himself? When has any other strongman made a fool of themselves?!

Jesus... Big pull by a skinny lad Grin Wink Embarassed
» Couple of questions about training DOH deadlifts (Go to post)28-12-2016 @ 12:13
To be blunt... Just train DOH and keep at it!

That's all I did and rarely use alternate grip now. Plus, IMO, DOH on deads makes the pull and inch or 2 shorter as well...

I've got good grip by normal standards I'd say; I pull 180kg'ish DOH on axle deads, but I've biggish hands an'all...

But any other exercises I use grip for (pull-ups, low pulley rows, lat pulldowns and just generally picking weights/bars up etc, I just use my fingers and rarely my thumb and find this helps grip as well

If you keep at it, I'd say you'll start to notice changes in your grip (for the better) within 3-4 weeks Happy

Doing holds on an axle really helps as well, as do timed-holds on a normal oly bar, just using a fingers-only grip!
» Front squats- harness and strap? (Go to post)26-12-2016 @ 21:50
You CAN do clean grip, just keep at it and the flexibility will come Wink

Plus I only use finger tips to control the bar... once it's sat across your clavicle, it should rest nicely Grin

Are you not able to drop the weights either? It's much easier to drop as it's on your front!
» TACKY REMOVAL (Go to post)26-12-2016 @ 16:07
As above...

WD40 was the best at removing tacky, better than white spirits any day

The 5l tubs are best to get and just use a basic spray bottle

20-30kg for me, dependent upon how my shoulders are feeling etc...

But, that's why I got it. Allows me to overload and get used to the weight in the hands, so to speak, but also takes the pressure off my shoulders (namely left) when pressing heavy
