IainKendrick said:Just to be clear dont stop pulling if the floor. Just add in some specific assistance work. Plus dont decide to so everything heavy as poss each week. Gradually build in the additional pulling movements. Depends hoe often you fan train and the rest of your training as to howmany hard pulling movements you can run at one time. Id prob start by adding some hard 14-18" pulls and lighter sldl. You should be doing hard upper back work anyway

Thats the hardest part trying not to increase my lift each week but ill certainly work on banging out the reps and adding different variations to my lifts

cheers mate

Have a read of this: http://www.reactivetrainingsystems.com/articles/training-artic...

Adding more sets and reps will give you more time under tension in your weak range.

Also you might change what your head is doing. I'm trying to learn to let my head go back during the lift as it helps keep my weight back. I find when my head stays down my weight stays forward. Might be worth a consideration.

I will give that a read mate cheers.

Cheers lads

I think hes looking at next year for his first comp he wants to get his deadlift up his PB is 145kg which is up from 100kg in 10 - 11 weeks of training

And got to get him event training
» Strongman Competitions for 50+ (Go to post)05-10-2012 @ 19:52
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is any comps held for anyone 50 or over.

Iv not been training long about 10 weeks for strongman and i competed in my first comp about 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it.

My father in law trains with me and hes 56, for his age hes as strong as an ox hes only lacking on deadlift as he only started doing it when he started training with me.

He really got the bug at the comp and maybe fancys competing, i have confidence and believe he could enter a novice comp and do well but hes not as confident so i suggested id have a look and see if theres any comps or if anyone knows if there is any for the slightly older generation.
