Was trawling through old threads and discovered that you're also from Scunny mate (boring day at work, a lot of spare time). Whereabouts do you train then?

JackRevans said:This will probably sound stupid but do you mean 1 o'clock from the side or from the point of view of the person benching? The reason I ask is because tom says I need to push the bar back as I have problems with it drifting downwards kind of. Consiquently my bench is poor and has been stuck at 122.5 for a year

Glad I'm not the only one with a stubborn bench!

EDIT: And I'm sure they meant one o'clock from the point of view of the bencher. And ursus was saying that the 11 o'clock position is bad i.e. the forearms bend back inwards (towards the torso).

Sc**thorpes massive for strongman, in the past and today with some very talented lads. It can also boast the most british powerlifting champions. weve also had european and world powerlifting champions. Also the first british weightlifter to put 200kg overhead lived in sc**thorpe.

Well I'll be damned lol. Where do they all train? Haven't really heard of any Strongman gyms in the area. I know that Resolution place has a bit of a kit but it didn't look too extensive!
» elbow pain squatting (Go to post)17-04-2013 @ 09:04
It might just be due to a lack of mobility in the shoulders in general, especially if your grip width on the squat is quite narrow. Obviously it helps the squat as you can keep the back tight but could put some unwanted pressure on the elbows.

There's a good stretch on mwod that I think might be useful. I'll have to get it later as I can't find the video properly on my work PC, but it basically involves hanging a band from a pullup bar or something and then threading your arm through so the elbow is resting in the band. Then lean the torso forward to stretch out the whole rotator cuff area.

Also lol'd at the dude that commented "You shouldn't bring the bar all the way down to your chest, it's bad for your knees", he always gets that s**t on his squat videos.

Lol, that was me. Grin I've been waiting so long for some youtube recognition!

It was a good point made by some other guy in the comments, Clarence could pretty much total 700 in a powerlifting meet right now!!

My hometown lol. Didn't even know there was a big strongman scene there! Might be back in town that weekend, so might actually come along to watch.

Same as a regular grip except you place the thumb first, then wrap the remaining fingers around it, as opposed to the other way round.

That looked locked out to me! Were you just waiting for the down signal or was there still a bit of distance for the bar to go?
» Chris's attempt at getting stronger (Go to post)13-04-2013 @ 17:45
Another short one today.

Some snatch technique work. First time doing them in aaages, my speed under the bar is a LOT better than it used to be.

Followed them with some HB squats, nothing heavy as I'm squatting on Monday.

Then 3 sets of 10 on 60kg for CGBP.

Then three rounds of the bear complex 30kg (tried 40kg but couldn't do it!). Taxing!

Funky_monkey said:So is your bench 97.5 or 105?
Nice squat PB!
15:00-19:00 isn't too long a day. You won't last too long in a BPC comp (10am-8pm lifting)

97.5 paused PB. 105 touch n go. I need it there as a slight ego boost lol.

Yeah man my endurance for these events is terrible. I don't think I'd actually survive a strongman comp :s

Bit of a mess about session tonight.

Worked up to three triples on 100kg oly squats which were actually quite tough! Other than that, just some high rep rows presses etc. new routine begins on Monday
