You make lifting weights look so easy Grin

It doesn't feel it! Thanks mate, yeah I squat like that in comps. I think the difference isn't all that great between squat types in pure raw feds, but every addition of equipment starts favouring wide stance and relying on short roms over pure strength and power. I think it's a personal thing for me, no matter how heavy a squat is, if the depth is even close to suspect, I seem to lose the appreciation for the lift. I'm not a depth snob or anything, but I want to make a clear divide between me and overweight Americans setting world records daily through weaker and weaker judge morales. When I set a world record or win a meet, nobody will question if I deserved it. Cheers

nails said:How doable to you think the next squat increment will be? Are you going to use a full 5kg or go with a 2.5kg?

Full 5kg, it's going to depend on the day and how well I recover from this week's training!
Will soon see anyway haha

Todays Session, Week 4 Bench 1

60 x 2
100 x 2

145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5

Seated rows, 3x8, focusing on retracting shoulders...light weight.

Bench felt silly easy, have no diea why. Last week was much harder, putting it down to just having a good day.

Tomorrows session, deadlift.

This. But if you ultimate goal is absolute maximal lifts be sure that you never ever blame any failures or bad recovery 'because you ran yesterday'. If them words ever want to leak out of your mouth then sack it off, and sprint.

KevC86 said:Always a pleasure to watch you lift, picture perfect form, though the speed in squats is noticeably slower than the last video I saw of you doing a double, entirely understandable though given that you were rocking 25 reps at over 200kg, hell of an achievement.

Good luck with getting the new deadlift form locked in, I remember the hassle I had getting my 'new' squat form to be second nature.

Cheers Kev. My 3rd set was much quicker than the one in the video, but my speed over reps as never been good, don't know if strength endurance and speed give in empathy with the other... It seems so. One way to be sure, I'll do some 100m sprints at the end of my 5x5 phase, then the same after my 1x1 phase and see if there's a difference in the average.

Thanks again for watching mate

I honestly don't have a clue mate!
I remember only just squeezing out 2x2 at 230 then did a pretty fast 255 in comp. But, I would be very surprised if it was anything less than 230 at the minute. With this system, I'll be doing 3's in the near future so will set a pb then!

I will use any numbers to ensure that my tonnage is tapered in a sigmoid manner.

5x5
4x4
3x3

each step is a 65% reduction in volume, 55% reduction in volume 45% reduction in volume etc, even with a small increment in weight, each sigmoid step is approx 10% reduced volume making it awesome for long tapers.

Missing the 4x4 is just... not cricket!, and more so not linear periodisation. People assume linear means always upwards... you can always go upwards in an exponential manner... good luck with that.

It is what it says on the tin.

That first vid is one of the best bench press displays I've ever seen. Easy up there in my top 5!

Thanks for the share
