Sure, but that's because the 40kg is half the weight, not 6" vs 12". Are you meaning because the log tries to roll off the chest?

Thats the point, you can press the 6" log easily because you are using a weight that doesnt keep you honest and allows you to just brute force it up. Thats fine with weights at 60% but simply will not work when using 90%.

To give another example though, on a 6" log you are pressing with your hands about 3" away from your power base. On a 12" log your hands are 6" away from that power base. Yes, they are that much closer to lockout, but that isnt enough to mitigate the inherent weakness of the pressing position. If it was the WR on a monster log would be bigger than it is on an IFSA log, and thats just not the case.

He cant win, because the Conor fan boys (who are the only ones who didnt seem to know this would be a joke for Floyd) refuse to believe their hero is a mediocre boxer. No amount of evidence will change this, easiest thing is just to smile at them and move on.

Edit.

The alternative would be for Conor fans to accept their man knew he didnt have a chance and essentially took a £100m dive. And they really dont seem to like that idea.

I've pressed more than 80kg, why would the position change due to what weight was lifted? Also 85kg x 18 strict on 6" is proper weight IMO, it's over 4 x more than I could jerk for 1 on a bar when I started / no sleeves too. Was happy with that.

The position doesnt change, your ability to press from a position changes.

The simplest example is this, i can press a 40kg db from anywhere close to my shoulder using nothing but brute strength, but if i want to put an 80kg db overhead i need to be pressing from a position of strength.

Have you tried the 6"? Possibly different story when you add leg drive but just for a straight press 12" is a lot easier, I've done them both in the same session (there's a video on my insta of it).

I have, while it may not be a factor for someone pressing 80kg, when you get to proper weights the difference in positioning becomes a much more noticeable factor.

Yeah 6". Becca has it in her comp. Really like it, much harder than a 12". If used to this 12" feels like joke as the range is so much smaller.

Avidly disagree. ROM may be smaller, but pressing position is much worse on a full size or monster log.

^^ well thats clearly bulls**t, even Mayweather didnt put him down (had the ref let it go another round i think that wouldve changed, but we'll never know).

Mcgregor did as expected, he landed a few shots early, utterly failed to rock the champ, and then got educated on why fighters and boxers should stick to their own craft.

Anyone with a brain knew this would be nothing more than a well paid sparring session for the champ. Usually id say fair play to Conor for making it last so long, but after all his ego, knockout bulls**t leading in to this i was glad to see him get slapped around.

That said, he's lost before, odds are he'll lose again, and the staggering pay check will help him get over this real quick im sure. So fair play to Conor on the 1 thing he did well, convince over 1m people that this was really a fight worth paying for.

27/8 - Doncasters strongest man

Threw myself in to this with only a few days notice, just as a chance to try out some of the events ive got at Elite Britains next month in a competitive setting. I knew id be below my best on a couple of events, but was counting on brute strength to see me through those ones. I was further hampered by taking ill on friday, so didnt manage to start feeding properly until about 6pm.

Event 1 - max log

Opening weight was only 100kg, which meant doing a lot of reps in fairly quick succession.
145 went up nice and easy, but just couldnt get my balance under 150 (pressing in the sunlight sucks).
Joint 1st.

Event 2 - 330 yoke x 20m

Forced to do a very low pick up here as the spacings on the yoke werent great. Made for a very slow start, but id got in to my stride by about the 5m mark and covered the last 15 in good speed.
12s, 3rd place.

Event 3 - 260 deadlift for reps.

Very light deadlift event by my standards meant i was sure of good points. I was also up 2nd to last and knew the guy up after me had dropped big pts in the 1st 2 events so wouldnt be a threat overall. 6 reps was joint 1st when i went up, so i went out, pulled a wonderfully easy 7 reps, checked my count with the ref to make sure i was leading then called it.
2nd place.

Event 4 - 202kg fingals finger

This is the one i wanted to try, much longer and wider finger than ive been using in training had me a little nervous. A couple of the bigger guys had hit 3 reps, so i knew what i needed.
Lower back cramped up as soon as i picked up the finger, and before id finished the 1st rep my shoulder was cramping as well. 2nd rep was an exercise is trying to ignore pain, and basically saw me bunny hop the thing over the tipping point.
3rd place.

5th event - stones

Destroyed a pack of jaffas cakes and a pint of orange juice once the cramps had eased off and then started to tacky up. Had a 2pt lead heading in to this event, and was last up, so i knew all i needed was to complete the run, place top 3 and id take the win overall.
First stone was to a very high platform which cost me a little time, but i flew through the next 3. Took a quick break to retacky, then loaded the final stone, no drama.
5 stones in 48s, 2nd place.

Overall 1st place, 3 pts ahead of 2nd place.

Fairly happy with how things played out, a little upset to miss the 150 log, but since ive not touched 1 in 4 months or so its not a big issue. Bit of a kick in the balls to lose the deadlift event knowing how easy it would've been to hit the 10 reps and win it, but saving energy after not being able to eat properly on friday was the bigger priority.

^^ while top 3 is an admirable goal, top 5 at Brits would most likely get you to Worlds my friend. Best idea is to play it safe though and win Brits.
