felt awesome day of the comp, got good sleep at the hotel, went out the night before and had alook around and got some food with the wife, lovely place.

I was alittle nervous but not much really, all the lads were sound, met a few before but some new faces too.

Event 1: duck walk 200 for distance
I was going head to head with Paul, I know if I could keep close I'd have a decent distance. he took off and I tried to pace myself alittle, had no problem on the straights but the turns were hard the duck kept banging off my legs and opening my hands up. I made 37/40m, about 8th/12.

Event 2: axle for max
125, 135 both flew as they should, felt good. 147 on the big fixed felt nice too, cleans felt alittle harder with it being fixed but I felt powerful, got a big high pull, then 157 actually felt really good. 167 I struggled from the belly to the shoulders, lent right back and didn't get it quite sat right in the palms, was a very very close press but I missed it. that should of gone! joint 4th.

Event 3: van deadlift side handle
felt heavy as f**k in the warm up, but Arron page told me to move my feet right forward and that felt much better! I managed 14 reps which was good enough for 4th again, some big pullers there so I was happy with that!

Event 4: incline log for reps 130
Anything pressing I like with my tiny trex arms, managed 16 reps which was good enough for the win. An event win at ESM happy with that!!

Event 5: 5 stones 100-160
I was last up and only 3 people had got the 160 so I paced myself thinking I could do the 160 and get 4th, well I couldn't budge the 160 and my first 4 were slow so I f**ked that up big time. I one motioned the first 3 too they felt light so I wish I just went balls out. not sure where I placed. f**k!

Now I was 4th going into the last event, 3 of us on 35 and a half points, sooo close!

Event 6: 400 tyre for 30m
I f**king hate tyre I'm s**t at it and I flipped the c**t once, I couldn't get grip
It right I kept slipping and I just looked like a c**t. dead last!! Absolutely gutted!!

Came 7th overall and I was f**king gutted, I should of pressed the 167 axle, I should of gone faster on the stones and I should practiced tyre 3x a week. Absolutely gutted I'm not going to UKs.

All the other competitors were great, Paul is just f**king unreal and is ESM at just 21, freak. Arron page was a real nice guy, helped me all day with little tips and s**t. Everyone was brilliant. good luck to all the lads going to UKs! Eddie hall was sound as f**k too, no ego or arrogance like his TV persona.

Good experience, still pissed off.

Great write up mate, fair play. onwards!

See you saturday, will message you regarding plan etc

deadlift
50% 135kg 5x2

Heavy push and pull work on prowler

split squat 3x6 up to 32kg per hand

Last Week I suffered real bad with doms after the bench session tue, to the point I missed 100 for 4 reps, so only managed an easy speed sess Friday, adjusting volume slightly for this week!

Sat squats
Walkouts
245
255kg
265kg

Eccentric only
235kgx2
245kgx1
255kgx2
Was controlled, happy with these, hardest part was spotting, as expected was always off centre, hence only doing one rep. not nice walking out 265kg haha

Squats
168gx5
186kgx4
203kgx3
180kgx4
197.5kg3
214kgx2

Last set was tough, but depth was best it has been. Been a tiring week so happy to hit these numbers under fatigue

Max effort isometric rack pull (from mid thigh)
5 sets of 5 secs

superset

Broad jump
5 sets of 2- Had nothing left, managed 220cm lol

Monday 01.02.16

Phase 2 of training- overload and intensity!

Quarter squats from pins-concentric only
235kgx2
245kgx2
255kgx2
265kgx2x2

All felt ok, hardest part was finding the balance point
Squats
120kgx1- just to get back to position
168kgx5
186kgx4
203.5kgx3,
180kgx4
197.5kgx3,
214kgx2

All felt great today and a world away from sat, found a really nice groove, focus was on trying to 'sit back' a little more rather than trying to stay upright. happy to hit 214kg for a double after a decent amount of work.

Deadlift off blocks- 14 inch bar height
70kgx3
120kgx3
170kgx1
220kgx3x2
225kgx2x2- felt heavy and was under fatigue so didn't want to push it too much.

Speed squats
116kgx5x2 (50%) moved well!

Louweazel said:My flights weren't too bad but I can't ever fly direct any where. They're at awkward times and will make water loading a pain in the arse if I'm having to do that.

the only direct flights I could see were from stanstead at 6am, so im going from brum on Tuesday at 8.50am, there is a stop for 2 hours but that will probably be nice to have a walk.

This is my first time water cutting for a comp that's not early morning, do you change much for it or just move your timings forward?

Last week I got called up to the GB squat for the European classic championships in Estonia, over the moon!
Looking forward to competing against the best in Europe, standard is ridiculous, and my bench is too s**t to be competitive, so my aim is to come top 5 in squat and/or deadlift, a medal would be lovely Happy

Had a decent week of training but this is the first full week of training for the meet!

Squats
65kgx5
105kgx5
125kgx3 all highball
145kgx1- low bar
165kgx1

belt and sleeves on..
185kgx8x3 (80%)- these felt lovely, on point with tech, but got real fatigued towards set 6, this is the last week of higher volume work

30kg trap bar- 3x5

ham curl

Had a squad session on the weekend for the GBPF Euro selection. Had a shocker really, training had been so good i expected a big performance

Squat
210kg- fairly easy

225kg- good rep, a little slower than training but still good

235kgxf- fast out the whole but then stuck just above parallel

bench
120kgx1- easy
125kgx1- came up well, decided to go for equal pb
130kgxf- small pause maybe went before command and was a few inches above lockout

deadlift
went to 260kg which felt heavy, so left it there, aim for the day was 270-275 :s

only thing i can think as to why it went bad is sillily i did some strongman work in a class at the gym wed and got carried away with trap bar pyramid up to 270kg, meaning 2 reps on 210,230,250. may of tired me more than expected

Next comp will be the GBPF west midlands open, but next big comp will be the all englands hopefully Happy

Wed deadlift
Plan to go to a moderate single 9.5rpe
70x5
120kgx3
160kgx1
190kgx1
210kgx1- all really nice, all beltless
230kgx1 belt on
