Was most looking forward to watching Adam Maligov lift as he has been putting up some massive numbers in training although I thought he was still cutting to 85kg so interesting to see what he weighs in at.

Also Berestov and Polovnikov in the 105s will be interesting to see how they get on!

Super-heavies should be exciting to watch too.

That there is one tasty competition. Just a shame Kasharina is not lifting.

Yeah... should add that Apti and Chen are not lifting due to recent injuries.

Good to see Yufkin lifting, he was one of my favourite lifters a couple of years ago but seemed to get pushed out by new boys coming through.

Supers looks like it could be a good old match. Hopefully Lapikov will make a big impact (his 210 snatch for 2 a while back was very impressive), and Albegov is usually good value, wasnt initially a fan of the big fella Mogushchov, but he has grown on me!!

Agree that it is a shame Kashirina isnt lifting!

Not sure really. I seem to remember an interview where he said he had fallen out with the coaches.

Here is a link to his instagram : http://instagram.com/akkhad161

Doesn't seem to be much lifting going on but looks like he likes firing guns out of cars and in the street.

He appears to have his priorities straight!

Dont know what shape Albegov is in but from his Instagram he seems markedly larger, 170 or so, so we could see something pretty special.

If Lapikov is on form as well as Albegov it would be nice to see a few 200+ snatches / 240-ish C&Js.

Interested to see what Bedzhanyan does. See if he can up that 240 c&j he got a few years back.

Its a shame his snatch was always comparatively low!!

Quite agree. Whether it will be this year or not I don't know but in the run in to Rio I can see a couple of people threatening Rezazadeh's, and by extension Taranenko's, Total record.

I agree, I can see the snatch record going, but we still seem short of anyone up or around the 260+ C&J

Lapikov has always been a big snatcher, I could see him hitting a 220 if everything was in his favour. The 215 he did in the warm up room the other year (when they were appealing his suspension), was the best 'big' snatch i have seen since Kurlovich did his 215 in years gone by).

Moulaei's attempt at 261kg at last years worlds was f**king close. I'm not sure if Iran will send him without Salimi again as he seemed to be out of favour. But depending on who else is there this year we could see something pretty big.

Albegov isn't the greatest jerker but if he's added bodyweight I can see his jerk going 260 plus.

I'd be surprised if the Iranian isn't back in that region as well and, quite importantly, if he needed that sort of weight to win again I would certainly be thinking "he can do this".

This is said somewhat tongue-in-cheek but I can see a 120kg Ilyin hitting 260 in a few years as well.
