Base gym is the one owned by sebastian oreb ? I messaged him but you can only train there if he personally trains you.

On a related note, anyone know if there are any strongman gyms in Zimbabwe (or if there are in fact any Zimbabwean strongmen)?

I assume there are ones in S Africa but what about Zim? Cheers

You could try the Harare Bodybuilding and Fitness Association. They may put you onto something: https://www.facebook.com/HarareBodybuildingAndFitnessAssociation
EDIT: Here's a strength and conditioning gym:

Mate, a brilliant chain of gyms in Australia called the PTC. Trained downs there when I was in sydney. 24 hour gym. 3 monolifts. Power racks and bumper plates. All the speciality bars you could think of. Practically anything you need in terms of strength training, including strong man they have. Completely recommend it.

Find an Australian strength discussion forum and Bob's your Uncle

Thanks for the responses everyone !
I messaged pct it looks awesome ! But they got back to saying that with the membership comes a training program. So i dont really understand how that works ? Is it do the program or get out or heres the program up to you if you use it ?

My impression is PCT don't make you stick to a programme, it's more they offer it.

If PCT is a pain to get to then the chain gyms in Oz are actually ok. I used Anytime Fitness whilst there and they hall have a couple of rack and will let you deadlift. Bar quality varies, the ones with Aussie Barbels are better than the generic ones. I think I particularly liked the one in Glebe

I trained over at PTC Sydney run by a nice gentleman named Trent. At the time he told me his athletes would pick a popular program and just stick to it. I'm guessing that he will offer to program for you once you join but it is up to you whether you wish to accept. Enjoy your travels in Oz :

Happy

hey mate. check out strongman australia on facebook and ask there.
there's plenty of strongman training to be had here in sydney. i can't help you as i train in a garage situation, however, there's some good guys training in and around sydney. sydney covers a massive area so you may need to be prepared to travel. PTC as mentioned is an option, and some of the top guys like ben simpson and mike jones train there from time to time. i think adonis athletics is another with powerlifting and strongman gear. good luck and enjoy your stay.
