I understand that folk on here are hall fans but isn't it a bit of a leap of faith to say he'll beat thor, the man who won the yoke last time it was in the wsm final against shaw and a z near his peak, on yoke after one decent performance on it where the only other top guy on yoke (at wsm level anyway) there was loz?

I agree it's a leap of faith. Loz is probably the best yoker in the world of that kind of weight though so to finish under 1 second behind him probably means you're going to not be finishing behind too many others.

With squats in the final it makes it good for Loz as well..he used to be seen as the best squatter at WSM. He is much stronger now.

I think the potential events do open it for some Brits to do really well this year.

Loz's problem is that he has quite a few weak events for that level. Assuming he makes the final he will probably be in the bottom 3 in stones, truck pull and loading/fingles fingers/keg toss... whatever they chose to use as the other event. If everyone stays fit I think a top 5 place would be hard earned. He'd have to beat two of Shaw, Thor, Hall, Z, Janashia, Kieliszkowski etc.

Hall has improved, and is constantly improving on moving events, but him winning those events may be a bit of a struggle still... Although his chances are improving! It will depend on what shape everyone comes in at, but if Ed can be in the top 3 on those events and not drop many points, he will be better placed to push for the overall win.

Let's remember the top guys do swap placings and points on most events, and we have seen Z have some iffy placings before and still win.

On the mentioning of Z too, I would love to see him comeback for one last hurrah and win it, yet his current injury list is against him and so is father time. What a fairy tale finish that would be though.

Brian just keeps improving though, and he is constantly focused on winning at all costs. He will take some beating and will fight hard.

Thor is more suited to worlds than the Arnolds, and he has all the attributes to be worlds strongest, but you have to question his focus (Which sounds silly) but he doesn't always show up to comps in his best shape or mindset like Brian.

Probably a Sugden crime (fight me at St Pancreas?), but my level of interest in this slightly drops every year. It has trickled down from 'obsessed' to just 'interested'.

The result is obviously going to be...

Shaw
Thor
Ed

Shoulder injury but stricts a 190 axle like it's nothing, wouldn't mind an injury like that

Lack of Z is making me feel the same way. None of the new guys come close to his charisma.

I wouldnt put it down to Z solely. Its not got the same appeal it had back in the days of pudz, poundstone etc IMO its got very standardadised.
As we have had threads in the past it needs more mental events like it used to!
