280kg deadlift no hitch, 235kg front squat, 182kg back squat for 20 beltless, 160kg close grip bench, 260kg x 8 strict shrugs, 160kg x 5 bent row along with 180 stone load no tacky, 160 farmers, 370 yoke an 400k tyre flips (along with the grip) - have done all these at one time or another. It's not strong compared to bunch of open level strongmen but it's far stronger than most people after taking gear forever. I think your not strong to strong view is off.
An gear not gonna do anything on it's own fella.

I train with 2 natty guys who are strong

Irishmarc benches 210, push pressed 160 with very little training and squats 260, all around 100kg bodyweight. Thats pretty strong

Ali squatted 320 and pulled 330 at the bpf unequipped, at 21 years old, thats strong

The only lift you state above I consider strong is your front squat, and going by your other front squat vids, I'm sorry but I don't think you could get half that weight to depth (all I have to go on is the vids you have provided buddy)

I thought like you before I trained at a place where there were actual lifters

I like you Mart but you demonize peds wayyy too much.

Dude I'll be on trt in a few years don't you worry Happy

people going from not strong to very strong cause of gear just bothers me

people going from very strong natty to super strong cause of gear, not so much

not sure if there is actually and sound reasoning there

Spent 12 years training prior to this so why not? You might think 100 for 5's push is weak, an for an open strongman it certainly is, but it's 5 times the weight i couldn't lift for one when i first started. Not like am gearing up second week training.
Also i don't just do strongman, i do grip too and am in striking distance of the biggest feat in grip history, along with not being a million miles away from being world champ, so again, why not?

The way I look at it if you have been training for 12 years and you are only push pressing 100 for 5 its time to pick a new hobby, as you aren't built to be gym strong

I know how it will go for you, the gear will make you fairly gym strong, but as the weight goes on you will get worse at the moving stuff you were originally good at. You'll then be a capable low level open strongman, and have to decide if you want to do what it takes to bridge the gap to mix with the big boys.

Guys at your level using gear is one of the reasons I have fallen out of love with strongman

Good luck though

4 hours sleep last night, very much a minimum effort session

Bench 135kg for 10, note to self, 2 warm up sets, not enough

Push press
110kg for 5, 5, 5, 4, a 5th rep would have been hard, so didn't

Squat
150kg for 7 sets of 2, between other sets

Chins
5, 5, 5

So someone will have to pull 15 deads to beat the record......

Why not just try to actually get strong?

With those events nick will be VERY difficult to beat

whats the maxle record for him to smash lol?

AdamC said:this is probably mine, 280kg. jacked up my shoulder on this had to take a few weeks off training

its also why having loz spot is a good idea lol

That was fairly epic spotting from loz there

With a typical skinny guy doing a zercher I'm pretty sure you'd be dead!
» Does anyone ever consider (Go to post)12-01-2014 @ 11:16
Part of me wishes I never trained for strongman, as it just got me fat

I don't have dem genetics to get jacket (or take any sweeties), so wish I had just trained to be stronger, bit bigger and not eaten like a wa**er (what I'm doing now ish)

19 hour day at work yesterday, all that sitting did me no good

Squats
LONG warm up
160kg for 5. Not as pretty as I would like but considering the week I've had not bad at all

RDL
200kg for 5, 5

BTN press
125kg for 3, 3, 3, 3, 3

The rdl and press was done very quickly

I know what you mean. but, for me, if you have a comp with three press/pull/squat events there should be some variation in format. so alternatively you could have a medley or max event. all three being reps just seems to be same, same, same. thats just my preference though.

I didn't really think about the fact that there was 2 OH events, you might have a point there

WILLSAN said:it was max deadlift last year and there are two overheads in this time so you wouldve thought it would follow that one of those would be for max. plus, we would have 3 guys potentially hitting around 200kg which would be ace. seems like an opportunity missed.

Personally I am sick of max dead max log, feels like there is one of the two in every comp
