1 clean 2 jerk 125kg PB

Pretty beaten up at the moment, lots of heavy sessions since Christmas, so a couple of days off to recharge and recover then build up to the next competition (two weeks tomorrow)

JackRevans said:I had a brisket done in the slow cooker for 30 hours on the lowest heat (which is very low). also potatoes, leaks and onions mixed in there.

I actually had the same thing for breakfast too and it was still not tender enough even after being on for a good 20 hours

Brisket usually only needs 6 to 8 hours on high or 8 to 10 on low. Do you have a thermometer?

excellent!
the only unfortunate thing is that after having been on for about 50 minutes not still on the higher setting it still seems more warm than hot. no steam coming off it or anything. probably should have read the instructions

Sounds about right.

It's not like adding cold ingredients to a hot pan, everything heats through gradually, so by the time it's up to heat it'll be cooking nicely.

115kg x 5 BTN push press today.

Not significant really, but it is the heaviest 5 rep OH I've managed since I began lifting again. More there too I think.

JackRevans said:iv put in

500g of lamb (cut into chunks)
2 potatoes
2 carrots
1 leak
3 lamb stock cubes

it barely all fits in and I have no idea what to expect but I look forward to the result

edit: iv just realised that its already half 6 and its not even getting that hot yet on the hot setting...

Should be good Jack. May need some more seasoning, and you'll likely need to thicken some of the stock into gravy to serve.

Also, it will take 4 hours or so I expect...

I know a fair bit about certain aspects of medicine (well, surgery) but that's about it. I've only ever won one pub quiz in my life thus far. Happy

I value your instincts. You are a medical man, a surgeon no less, and you lift. You may not know when the magna carta was signed or who was hanged on the 31st January 1606* but you will have a fine instinct for what is right and what is not, and how right or wrong it is. I could write a programme that I know you would dismiss as nonsense with a snort of derision and a wave of your hand. So to have one that you study more closely and deem worth trying yourself is, in my book, quite an accolade.

We mustn't dismiss the possibility that Sam has only ever entered one pub quiz of course.
