That's a lot of heavy volume so soon after the comp. I just about managed to get to the gym twice and lifted nothing heavier than 60kg lol.

Cheers Andy

Here are the videos from the comp

Cheers Bill. Yeah might even start training 2 days a week lol. I think a proper plan needs to put in place for next year.

Rodger said:Well done mate. Shame you struggled with deadlift and bench.
Nice one on the squat PB!

Thanks Rodger. Bench could have been disastrous, just glad I did the 120kg tbh.

ChrisMcCarthy said:Goals hit, job done. Can you ask for any more?

Good effort.

That is true, maybe a 125 bench and 240 deadlift lol. Cheers mate.

CC said:See you at the classic.

I shall see you there Christopher, I plan to out deadlift you Happy

GBPF West Midlands Divisional Championships

The build up for this comp has not been great, a shoulder injury which held back my bench and a hip issue which meant I couldn't deadlift heavy for a few weeks. I had two targets for this comp, to squat 200kg and get the qualifying 545kg total.

Got to the comp just before weigh in closed, weighed in at 91.3kg. I think next year I want to make sure I'm closer and in better shape to the 93kg limit. I was around 90kg a few weeks out and just ate a lot to put on a bit of extra weight.

The organisation of this comp was very good. A lot of time to warm up (on the bar, 40kg, 60kg, etc) and help on hand.

Squats

185kg - good lift
195kg - good lift
200kg - good lift (PB)

- Finally got that 200kg squat and I was happy to achieve my first target.

Bench

120kg - failed at lockout (lol)
120kg - good lift
125kg - failed lift

- I could not believe I failed 120kg even when I looked back at the video. I just seemed to fail an inch from lockout. However, I got it on my second lift relatively easily so took a 5kg jump and not a 2.5kg jump because I felt safe on doing a 225 deadlift even if I didn't get the 125.

Deadlift

225kg - good lift (and 545kg total)
235kg - no lift
235kg - no lift (stuck to the floor)

- After the 225kg deadlift the comp was over for me. I decided on 235kg for next lift for an equal pb but I just didn't commit to it. 2nd attempt it just didn't move, back had started to seize up so I think that played a part. Tbh deadlift has felt very weak in training.

So a 545kg total @ 91.3kg and 3rd place overall again. My weight selection was a bit wrong tbh and I could have totalled over 550kg if I thought about it. But anyway goals achieved.

It was long day but that was just due to the number of lifters. Great comp and well organised.

Yeah, I think you are right, I will have to see closer to the time. However, I don't want to lose the weight and then lift as badly as I did last year, that would really piss me off considering how well training has gone this year compared to last.

That is true. Is 94.8kg a morning weight?

Nice session. Regarding the bodyweight, I reckon you could easily drop the weight and make 93kg (especially if they are the same scales as last year Wink ).
