A swift and straightforward four

There appeared an obvious, if not slightly unlikely answer, which even if wrong would be helpful. Happily it was correct

Friday, 1st March, start 15:15

Barbell bent row
20 x 10
30 x 10
40 x 10
50 x 10
60 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10

Deadlift
70 x 3
80 x 3
90 x 3
100 x 3
110 x 3
120 x 3
130 x 3

It's rather cold tonight and my knees are aching so 130 is where it stops. Quite quiet tonight, but a few rolled in late on. One of whom was one of our younger members who has talent and real potential at weightlifting, who revealed that he had used the word "powerlifter" as an insult in some small argument with his father. Handsome Jeff who coaches the lad was impressed by this, as was I truth be told, so I shook his hand and told him "well played". You can learn so much more at Adders than just lifting things and putting them down again. Character building I call it. I hope he realizes how lucky he is.

A boring 5

Guess 1 gave me the first and last letter which can be a recipe for disaster with the amount of possibilities, so immediately went tactical for a safe 5

A safe and unexciting five

Went for it after the first two and could only think of three options left after that, tactical fourth which worked out nicely, it was the third of the three options I would have used, so saved myself a six and a mild panic

A rather taxing five.
After the usual opener I knew that I should have varied the second but I stayed with my standard second word and then had to chase my tail to get where I needed to be.

Getting this last letter on the first guess is rarely helpful, so resorted to a tactical 2nd to avoid any trouble

A terrible four

Usual three openers produced so very little, so a cup of tea was made, an A4 pad and a pencil was produced, pencil in right hand, head in left and eventually the answer was produced. If ever they veer towards slightly more obscure words days like this will end in tears, all of them mine.

Yesterday on entering the gym I noticed that Steph and Louise (my pet name for the squat racks) were set to their lowest setting, I further noticed that the Eleiko power bar that lives on them had been replaced with the Texas power bar that resides nearby. Whilst the Texas bar is a perfectly serviceable and acceptable bar, I fail to see why anyone would remove the Eleiko and use that instead. For deadlifts, yes as the Texas has a more vicious knurl but no-one deadlifts in squat racks however low the setting.

Whilst pondering this bizarre behaviour I noticed the broken scales (they record weights up to 25 stone but the needle refuses to go past 14, thus surely classing any weight as unreliable) had been removed from under the seat in the changing room and had been set in the centre of one of the weightlifting platforms.

Edit - "There lowest setting" changed to "their lowest setting". I can only apologize for this shameful error and assure all that I have punched myself in the face for it
