I also think, just cause you are unable to do one event, this shouldn't detract you from doing the comp as there are 6 other events as I think points will taken by everyone. Look at the log at BSM u90 last year. A few were struggling with a rep on the weight before hand, but at the comp turned up and smashed it. People said it was heavy, still turned up and got on. Also the 90s bsm log was bloody heavy and I think most of us felt we may no rep it but we training like f**k and most were rewarded for training so hard, this is only the same | ||

If its for finding the strongest AND gettin new blood into the sport then its to heavy. u80 has the potential to be bigger than the u90s, which can only be a good thing for the sport | ||

Things do take time mate, maybe in a year or 2 there maybe enough interest to do qualifiers, or who knows 40 lads may want to do it this yr and qualifiers may be needed, also yanks are soft that's y this is heavier lol | ||

But no belt cleans are allowed, which at 80kg is quite a limiting factor I think. Yes, you can belly or power clean it. But a belly clean at 80 is difficult, as is a power clean as most of us have tiny hands. So I my eyes, it's all relative. This is what the country needs, as why should we not send people to the Arnold's. The yanks and ozzies do every year, and it is growing massively year on year. In order to get it exposure, I feel it has to be called BSM. Whether it deserves it as there are no qualifiers, who knows. But the quality of last years event certainly warranted this title in my eyes. This years proposed event doesn't make me change my mind on this either | ||

 Uk limbo dancing champion Member 2666, 6551 posts SQ 202, BP 170, DL 255627.0 kgs @ 88kgs UnEq | some good points being raised in here which il stick my unwanted nose into. smalls not always the strongest wins, iv lost log for rep events to ppl with lower maxes than myself cos its been too light n im gassed after a few reps. maybe a rarity as my fitness is extremely poor. liam in regards to asking neil about running a qual, im sure hed spoke to clegg about doing BSM u80 this year. i agree with adam about BSM not having as much meaning with the lack of quals unless it was unlimited on entrants. liam id like to think the u80s will grow in time but if theres only 1 comp a year thats pretty heavy its not going to attract any one new. i think a good option wud be for a couple of ppl to get together and organise some quals and take the gamble of them filling up or not. personally id run 2 quals, north n south. scots do north, welsh does south, midlanders do closest to them. if theres alot of interest hold more quals next year. if theres going to be an u80 arnolds every year then uk needs to up its game | ||

But u can't expect organiser to risk there money to put on a comp for 3 people I have already spoke to Neil about putting on 2 more comps. One is an under 80s open to everyone. And other other is a 90s invertational that I wanted to do last yr but dint get chance in the end | ||
