Hi there, I'm jonathan, 29 years old 1m65/70kg. I started olympic lifting in september 2006. Needless to say i'm new to this even though my numbers have gone up quite fast these days.
Technique is my prime concern, i want good form so focus is there obviously.
The gym I work out in has 8 platforms, power racks, sh1tloads of free weights, the bumping kind, dumbells, chin-up bar, dip station and some benches.
I usually work out 4 times a week, sometimes more depending on how i'm feeling. I have weightlifting shoes and all training are coached.

Here is yesterday's work out which wasn't tip top to be honest. I may post a link to my first log that started on september if you like, dont know the policy on that though.

All weights include a 20kg olympic barbell.

Nothing mind blowing i've got to tell you. There's a half squat i'm ashamed of, now i know better. I left my ego away, restarted from scratch. All my squats are now atg since in oly lifting, took my a while to rebuild them up to 150kg though.

I kept this session light and thought maybe i'm not doing the best thing for my bench. It's my second time in seven months and thought triples at 80% would be a good target!?

Triples at 80% seem sensible enough. Did they seem fairly comfortable? If so you should be able to carry on with them adding a little bit more weight each week for a while.

Your power snatches are pretty strong - most I ever full snatched was 80kg, at about 88kg bodyweight. Never really had much instruction in the snatch, just watched other people, and my technique was all over the place. Do you get coaching?

Not really mate, i reckon i could add a little weight but i'll soon be struggling. The bench press is by far my weakest movement. I dont have much of a plan yet.

I do get coaching, they are three of them in my gym. Plan is to sneak in the 70kgs for working sets, by that time i should be able to snatch my body weight (76kg) which is one of my next year goals, along with a 100kg+ clean & jerk easy.

Last 3 sessions were 120kg for 5X5, first one being hard, last one much easier. These i just did felt lighter than what i thought they would. I reckon i'm good for 145/150kg for 1 rep atg.


bench press

Did manage 3 sessions this week, quite pleased with that. Need to keep it that way but where to? Up the charge? More reps or sets?
