Anyway first comp of the year yesterday Northern Englands U105kg - was a day before weigh started the week around 111kg. Waterloaded throughout the week and started to dehydrate 4pm on Friday @ 109kg. Rrally stuggled and barely managed a drip of sweat until i got to Salt Ayre on Saturday around 3pm. Got there was 106 so a trip to the sauna. took abit to get sweating but eventually got there and weighed in at 104.9 after about an hour in the sauna. went home and rehydrated. Morning of the comp was abit stresful as the dog got a pigs trotter stuck in its arse so a trip to the emergency vets in Garstand then onto Salt Ayre ready to compete. Had been looking forward to the comp and was hopefully of getting some PBs in and the aim was not to come last. 1st Event - 110kg log FTOH Warms ups all felt good and easy. first 2 were fine took the third up and it got really heavy. managed to get the third took afew seconds before my 4th that one just got there. tried a 5th but was just a step tofar. Think i cam around joint 6th on this maybe?? 2nd Event - 330kg yoke race Was out against another Blackpool lad Andy Wignall in this. Knew it is usually a good event for me picked it up and felt a little sluggish but very solid. Managed the course in 16 seconds which was good enough for 5th place i think. 3rd Event - 3 105kg sandbags 1 115kg sandbag Manged the first 3 comfortably. got onto the ironmind 115kg sack and fell forward with it twice. engergy sapped and ran out of time. 11th place 4th Event - Mad Medley Arm over Arm into Duck walk and powerstairs. Felt the arm over arm prior to the comp and knew i needed to get alot of legs into this. Manged to get this done and felt quite fresh. Into the duck walk stood up tall with it and got to the powerstairs with no issues. straight up the 5 steps for a time of 69 seconds which was good enough for 4th place 5th Event 135kg farmers walk 20m Knew i needed to get physced up for this event and hope my grip would hold out for me. Griped it pickup was smooth and felt solid throughout - Completed it in 14 seconds which was good enough for 6th place 6th Event 240kg Deadlift for reps most ive done in training on this was 3 which was a pb. wanted to get 5 although knew it would be great points with some very strong deadlifters Managed to get 6 reps the last one was an absolutle grinded - video is on my facebook not sure on placing for this although know it wasnt to high Overall i finished in 8th place out of 14 - very happy with my performance over the day and much improved from last years 15th place of of 18. looking forward to the naturals now and theres a very slim chance with afew drop outs may make englands although very much doubt it. Was pretty consistent throughout and a your position improvement from last year showed this. Gonna do well at the naturals I reckon!!
