A difficult and rather tactical six. It was a relief and a half.

I didn't play yesterday, but, having looked it up out of curiosity, while I know the Americans treat it as a word, I'm old-fashioned enough to still think it an acronym.

No, not really. I can see that it might for others though.
I have chosen words that include two vowels and three common consonants, so the first two are used as a pair and the third is a back-up featuring the other vowel and a "Y", it also has three other consonants.
I consider this to be a very sensible thing to do. In order to change it I would require another three words that fulfilled the above criteria. Failure to do this would be moving to a less sensible option. I am not bright enough to make it up on the fly as you do.
In addition to this I am an uninteresting, rather dull character. So it rather suits don't you think ?

I do something similar, but with two words that cover all five vowels (though not Y) and four of the five most common consonants. I'm a beast of habit, and a systematic one at that.

With me, just cutting out cola, cakes and chocolate would have done the trick, but I didn't. My advice is drop the carbs right down, starting today, your health is more important that how much you can lift.

Echo all of this.

Isn't the whole thing really trivially disproved, then, by just going there and observing the lack of box corner? Or, indeed, proven by going there and photographing it?

It was bloody cold in the club just now.

A very trying five.

It took me five, and I had the vowels after the first guess. It took me a very long time to think of any second guesses at all, let alone the next three.

We went quite near the Trafford Centre on our way back from an excellent lunch yesterday, but quickly abandoned our attempt to visit it as we encountered the edges of the gridlock. Most annoying.

As regular readers will expect, it won't be on the BBC because the bits that are true aren't interesting and the bits that aren't true are bo***cks. I would write a full pull-apart, but that would be a waste of everybody's time, so I shan't. The TLDR is, though: indeed they didn't know after the first phase of trials whether it would reduce transmission (because it worked so well that almost no trial participants caught it, so there was no data), but of course it was reasonable to assume it would. They didn't claim it would, and were heavily criticised at the time for not doing so. Now we know that (as anybody would expect) it is remarkably safe, and highly effective, even against the variants. Ends.

I have so far tolerated this stuff in this thread, although you have been warned not to post COVID conspiracies on the site. It will NOT be tolerated elsewhere.
