I have been invited to have one.

Should I have it?

Is it an attempt to control my mind?

Are you at risk of dying if you get the flu?

If not, I probably wouldn’t bother.

this is the correct response.

Id go further and say...its up to you but make sure to be informed that there is enough of it going around for those who really need it to recive it first.

Does this make you officially "old" now?

I remembered getting a text about this so have just checked my messages to see when it was. f**k me I've just had another asking me again. I was considering it even though I haven't done anything about it. Now I'm thinking that this so called health service are a bit pushy and I'm suss as to why they are so keen to keep me alive and well.

I don't know now. Feels like I'm a human in the twylight zone - 'To serve man' ready to be eaten by a Richard Kiel alien.

I may be over thinking this.

I've had it for the past few years, I think they started when I turned sixty.

I had my latest about a fortnight ago, they ask three questions -

1. Do you feel well ?
2. Are you allergic to eggs ?
3. Are you left or right handed ?

The first is a general pleasantry, the second prevents death and other unpleasantness as the vaccine is made from eggs and the third determines which arm they stab.

It doesn't hurt. I have never had any unpleasantness arise from it and I view it as a good thing.

I tend to view these things as "why shouldn't I?"

My texts (both of them) stated 50-64 YO being the reason for the invitation. I don't feel old, but I didn't feel not old last year. Be interested to hear what official age groups are.

It could be a scam to nick a kidney. These things happen.

I am offered them, and I'm pretty sure it's because, statistically, I'm better off having them. Plus I cannot see any possible reason why I wouldn't.

I was over 50 last year and did not get offered it, what could of changed in the last 12 months?

If I was in work, I wouldn’t fancy the uncertainty of “have I caught a normal snotty nose or C19” from colleagues coming to work while ill. I’m home working so no shot for me. I’m always a bit tired after taking the flu jab.

I’ve had them yearly since 14 alongside pneumovax every 5 years due to my splenectomy - sometimes feel a bit run down afterwards. I am married so my mind is fully controlled already Grin

I been invited to have one every year for the last 6-years and have never had it until this year. Zero issues with it and I will be having it again.
AvatarWILLSAN
I had flu once when I lived in HK. it felt pretty bad but I managed to get on a bus to the docs in the heat and humidity of an east asian summer so cant have been that awful. never had it again.

given that, my current state of fitness and my general philosophy of trying to avoid products of the pharmacological industry unless absolutely necessary I would pass.
