LukeC said:Sounds like a good comp. The class delroy McQueen was in sounds very impressive, 3 900kg+ totals.

Yeah was a one of those great battles for 1st where there's no idea until deadlifts between the Finnish guy and Davd jenkinson.

I got 280 / 220 / 280
Had more there on bench. Will do a write up after some kip!

Yeah comp was superb - credit to promoter scott Halliday and GPC team. judging was very good and consistent too; spotters and loaders really on the ball despite the obvious energy sapping weather.

Excellent stuff - world class bench too at that bw. unusual to see both lifts so good which makes you a massive threat wherever you lift.

rugby has developed a culture of size at all cost which must make ped a massive temptation - remember back in early 90s when Kevin Iro at Wigan was 'massive' being something like 15 stone (but 6-4 tall) - you get halfs heavier now at far shorter height

It would certainly make the Tour de France's of the lance era an interesting spectacle

problem is do these athlete at this level of eliteness truly know every minutae of their training regime when in an environment of coaching teams, nutritionists team doctors doing so much for them. 'Healthy b12 injection' could easily be with added microdose of epo/test etc by an unscrupulous coach

iam like you mate i sweat thinking of lifting i have never done a powerlifting comp before so dont know what to expect i usually do strongman

Only entered 2 myself but PL comps seem to take a long time due to number of competitors involved and all lifting one at a time. bad habit to avoid is warming up too soon and then not lifting for for 30 mins before opener - did it on both squats and DL this time again

tommy32 said:what happend with the squat was it cramp or nerves is it reaily that hot in venue iam going to die then iam so heavy at min

combination of heat, cramp, lingering calf injury and comp nerves.

it was hot esp on stage a few others mentioned it - but I wear t-shirts in winter so it really
depends how bad you feel it but I was sweating buckets all day.

squat 240kg

bench 190kg

not the best day - squat was disappointing and had to withdraw from deadlift after only getting my opener in with
tweaked hamstring and torn thumb.

any decent benchers there mate how you get on

was a tough day - very hot and humid in venue and I had bad cramp issues - girlfriend had to massage the
crap out of my back just to make it to deadlifts to register a total - I wasn't pleased with squats at all, messed up what
should be comfy 255.

benches was a couple of 190kg+ me, martin brown and thomas cardwell i think.

tommy32 said:yeh went there to train legs with loz and dave in london aint it iam opening on 220 see how that feels go from there well done on the bench record fair shout do you feel weaker f**king with your weight so mush

220 is a big opener on bench - what you aiming to top out at?
» GPC lifting log (Go to post)11-06-2015 @ 01:14
I don't mind cutting tbh - don't think it weakens me as I'm not losing more than 2-3kg from carb deplete and 2-3kg from sauna - pretty easy to restore on 24 hour
weigh in. Big problem I found today was tons of cramping because it was like a sauna in that venue.

tommy32 said:whats the bench like iam leaveing friday lifting sat i dont bother cutting weight if iam over 140 then iam over

It's a high bench - like the cec powerlifts one at genesis Wembley if you've ever trained there. I can't get legs on the floor without tiptoeing cos I have no arch whatsoever
