I got the raw powder and its horrible stuff, it doesnt dissolve at all in water and is so bitter.

Enjoy. My opinion on the use of amnio acids is that it is pretty much a load of old cobblers Grin

When is you nxt comp lined up?

you are probably right about the aminos. Don't know when my next comp is. I heard there was supposed to be a BWLA SW unequipped but not heard anything so far.

Thursday's session at Purbeck

Squat
  • 95K x 5
  • 115K x 5
  • 130K x 5
  • 135K x 5
  • 137.5K x 5
  • 137.5K x 5

Deadlift (small diameter plates)
  • 147K x 5
  • 167K x 1 failed 2nd, should have been 5reps
  • 167K x 1 failed 2nd, should have been 5 reps at 177K

Great squat session, making good progress, deadlifts were disappointing, not sure if I ran out of energy. The 147K felt fairly hard which they shouldnt have.

Paul
Good session, I will be adding more weight to the bar next week. Squatting slightly wider, I think this is the way to improve my squat.

Great session.
2x5x140?
I reckon your squat PB should be over 170 easy.

cheers Finch, I would like to have 170 for 1 nailed by the end of the year minimum, best PB so far is 160K squat. I think 140 x 5 equates to about 160K for a single according to 1 rep max calculators and they seem to be fairly accurate for me and squatting.

Nice work, Paul!

Think you'll have that 170kg squat soon. If you squat narrow, do you use WL shoes or flat ones like All Stars?

Bench is coming along real nice as well!

cheers jaako, I wear squat shoes (ironworks) and tend to squat narrow but I have widened my stance abit lately to try and improve technique and not let my knees go so forward.

Monday's Bench session at Purbeck

Bench (touch and go)
  • 60K x 8
  • 75K x 5
  • 85K x 5
  • 92.5K x 6
  • 92.5K x 5
  • 92.5K x 3
  • 92.5K x 2

good start then it seemed to go downhill rapidly, not very good

Followed this up with pullups, BB rows, pushdowns, curls.

Also tried a bit of push press for the first time, 3 sets of 45KG for 6-7 reps

I've gone the other way since getting my Adidas shoes.

Used to squat wide in flat shoes but always had a hamstring weakness so I guess that's why I do better now that I've gone narrower and can tap more in to my glute and quad potential. I have a big ass and decent quads but barely any hamstrings, although they have improved, and my lower back has also been a weakness so far why the narrower and slightly more upright stance works better than wide bent over stance.

low diameter plates for deadlift have helped my hams.

Yeah, that's a pretty narrow stance and think it's pretty much what I guess my squat looks like now. Btw, your more solid than your avatar makes you think.

I've used the conventianal deadlift and additional stiff leg dead lifts to help my hamstrings. Used to do deficit deads but could never work them well enough to suit me. Maybe I'll try them again soon as well as partial rack deads for my upper back.

Missed your lifts at the SE qualifier. So far I haven't watched many other lifts than the ones in my own flights whilst waiting for my turn.

paul, push presses really help my bench, might be worth sticking with them
