Ok mate thanks I'll bear that in mind. I think it has been slightly wide lately because I split my trackies recently squatting which I'd never done before

its all about finding a stance that allows you to hit depth while still letting you use big weights, i tend to have a pretty wide stance but am pretty flexible, your squat still looked damn good though

I see. I have been stretching alot these past few weeks, hamstrings, hip flexors, calves as I just felt it would be beneficial, but I suppose everyone will have that ideal stance that helps them most. I just remembered I've got another vid at a better angle from 120 5x5 a couple of weeks ago. I think depth isn't too bad on most reps but just a shame I didn't get a better angle with the 130. Nevermind. Anyway might aswell post this since i've got it:

As Dan said, maybe a touch wide. Having that though, Macca squats 260kg raw and with a wide stance. From my experience though, I can shift more weight and hit depth much more comfortably with a pretty neutral stance. My stance only goes out when I'm in kit to try and get the most I can out of the suit.

Lovely looking squat in general though.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll aim to get just a touch lower, and bring my feet slightly closer together.

where do you train matt, if you are local you might find a trip over to where i train in scunny worthwhile, its easier to see in person rather than a video

Dan,

At the minute I'm in bristol at uni but I'm home for summer in just under 3 weeks time. At home I train alone in a tiny quiet gym in a nearby town but it's cheap and has oly bar, plates and bar stands so I make do. I would like to meet more people for training though so I'll come through to scunny at some point at end of June, that would be great. Where do you train?

8/6/11 - Lower

Squats:
100 x 1
115 x 1
127.5 x 5 Grin
127.5 x 3
127.5 x 3

Ok I didn't make the full 3 sets of 5 at 127.5 but still very pleased because firstly all squats today were about a half inch deeper than I've previously been going (as on the previous vids) and had someone watching to check so I'm now 100% depth was fine. I got alot more quad involvement and felt stronger by bringing my stance slightly closer as per Luke and Dan's advice big thanks there. I'm also happy because I should now hopefully nail that 127.5 for 3 sets of 5 next session. SO close to getting into the 130s for volume, and when I do, I'm hoping to hit the big 140 for a single within a matter of weeks, watch this space!

Front squats
80 x 2
100 x 2
100 x 2 PB on reps

SLDL
100 x 10
100 x 10

Weighted situps
25 plate x 12, x 12, x 12
Supersetted with DB side bends after every set

Overall very pleased.

10/6/11 - Upper

Barbell benched for the first time in months, been using DBs normally but gonna have to get used to a bar again for the comp. Was expecting to struggle with 80 for a single as I'm normally alot s**tter with a bar by comparison, but was pretty pleased actually. Slight pause on all the singles at the chest like in comp.

Bench
50 x 5
60 x 1
70 x 1
85 x 1 PB Grin
80 x 5
80 x 3

Looks like 90 in the comp is well within my grasp.

Chin ups
+10 x 3
+15 x 3
+25 x 4 PB
+25 x 3
+0 x 12 (wide grip pull ups)

Seated DB press
25 x 10
25 x 10

Static holds
120 x 30 secs double overhand
140 x 10 secs double overhand
160 x 15 secs mixed

Only stopped at 15 secs on the 160 not because of fatigue, felt quite easy, but just because I only did it to get used to gripping heavier weight ready for when I start deadlifting again in a couple of weeks. I've had about 2 months off DLing due to being in a s**t gym with bars that don't have knurling and hex plates that move between DL reps, so just been sticking to frequent heavy squatting and light SLDLs assistance, but taking time off DL like this normally doesn't make it go down as long as I keep squatting.

Skullcrushers
something x 10, x 10

Broceps
something x 10, x 8

Hey bud Happy
Nice work on those chins with all of that extra weight added. also, Your squat looks quite similar to mine technique wise though you're stronger than I am with those reps by the looks of it. was quite freaky to see actually lol.

Thanks, I'm pleased with the chins. The squats aren't bad but I struggle to see anything positive in them myself lol, since I'm nearly up to 130 for volume but have never even squatted 3 plates for a single haha (hopefully not for much longer though). At least a positive is they're slightly deeper now then on the above vids.

I've watched a few of your vids of singles and such and remember thinking that's how I squat/ideally would like to squat so I can only agree. Will be following your log Grin
