mark_f1 said:It looks an awesome comp, I did consider it at one point (although would have zero'd on the overhead, and likely the deadlift too), and been near last on the rest anyway, I'm little bit gutted I didn't now especially with those names in it.

Good luck and enjoy it.

Thanks. Yeah pretty much just need ed to sign up now and we've got a full house haha An no shame in that, it's a bloody heavy comp! Fingers crossed I can get a few reps on the axle, deadlift I'm just hoping to lift it, Hercules hold I was expecting to win but now Felix and unit are in I wish I'd been training more. The rest I really have no idea as haven't been able to train them. Will see what I can do on Tuesday.

I'm surprised to read that you're taking your foot off the pedal a bit. You always seem like an ambitious guy, and I thought you'd want to give 100% to the comp.

It's not as simple as that. I've always had a long term 'supplement' plan and with them taking the prep down from 17 weeks to 8 weeks, I had to mess with that plan. I was going to add more last 3 weeks but now which wouldnt do too much because its forced and my body isnt responding too well anyway / it would make no odds so will not be doing and will lessen somethings a bit for health reasons. I've also had to push the weights far quicker than I'd like. I think I fractured my right shin bone the first week which still hurts now, I strained my left quad on the 300kg hack squats and may possibly have torn my right calf a bit doing 350kg 18" break, was black and blue after. I don't want to risk injury as long term that doesn't help me so will keep weights a little lower on some things. You have to be smart, it's not a sprint and honestly if I knew I only had 8 weeks I wouldn't have signed up for such a heavy comp in the first place.

Well so much for not wanting to get injured, I've hurt my left hip really badly doing a slow walk - can't f**king believe it. Was getting ready for events just walking through house and suddenly got a crippling pain in left hip/lower back. Its burning like f**k and can only stand up about 3/4 of the way, pretty much in agony with any movement. No idea what I've done or how its possibly happened. Feels similar to what I did to the other side but more into hip and more painful. Can't see any way I can compete in 2.5 weeks unless by some miracle I wake up tomorrow feeling fine. Hopefully that's what happens but feels really inflamed so can't see it Unhappy

Apparently not! I could understand if it was lifting something heavy or doing something stupid but was literally walking slowly in a straight line. This has actually got worse now too, it's taking everything I have to stand up and walk :/

Have you considered the possibility that the reason you are so frequently injured/unwell could be due to flaws in your training/eating/supplementing system?

His traning has seen his strength massively improve, his eating has been full of good proteins and carbs with the odd pizza and high calorie snacks/desserts to gain weight for the comp and i cant comment much on his supplementing but its not been extreme whatsoever.

I do the vast majority of the cooking so i know what he eats.

This i believe to be because ive not been able to give him massages during the heavy stages of his prep while recovering from my op. I have been telling him to book am appointment to have a massage done but weve both had relatively bad experiences with our local one so in future might need to look elsewhere for one

Of course yes you have to look at everything and its been far from perfect, but am not frequently injured. I've always got injured very very easily, one small mistake for me and injury is almost guaranteed. That's what's happened in this prep, well, just before the prep and during. Just before I made the mistake of forgetting to clamp my belt up on a standing strict press. Result of that was a slipped disk. Even had a soft belt on underneath. Definitely my mistake 100%, but not exactly a massive one. Injury to my shins first week was using crazy light weights on farmers and yoke, think was 40kg a hand farmers and 135kg yoke. The mistake I made was doing too many runs of these (think I did 5 each) in an effort to work my conditioning more whilst the weights were really light. Never had any kind of shin injury like that before even from running or anything so was hard to predict but live and learn. Again, my mistake but were talking very small errors really. Then this one I wasn't doing anything, just walking through my house. Only thing I can pin it to is what physio has said in that I haven't had enough massage, which has been an issue as even a while before Becca's op because she couldn't do it with shoulder pain. Saying this though, I upped my stretching a good bit and been using heated massage bed a lot so it's not like I haven't tried with that either. Foods been on point, been drinking s**t ton of water, waited till hydrated fully for every workout, been getting plenty of salt / electrolytes etc

So physio says I've twisted my si joint and defo have tissue damage with it, its very inflamed. 6 weeks to recover is what she's saying so comp isn't possible but I knew that already. 72 hours complete rest with ice first thing. Can barely stand still so that's not an issue, can stand up straight though or at least near straight so better than yesterday. Very very painful to bend in any way or any kind of odd movement. Usually don't take pain killers but f**k that in agony.

Don't know what I'm going to do as far as comps now. I really want to just get back in the gym and keep building on the strength I've been gaining. Hopefully in a few weeks I can at least do some bodyweight back extensions or something. When I'm recovered want to go for 400kg trap bar deadlift and 300kg x 10-20 Romanian deadlifts. Really annoying that I didn't get to even do 260kg on the Romanians, as defo would have got a good 15 reps at least at that yesterday and not sure George leeman has done much more (I'm using his style of them). Was hoping to do some front ssb squat reps with 230-250kg too as would have had access to stronger bar. Hoping I can get back to doing some light seated pressing by the end of the week. Want to get +160kg on seated smith, think +140kg is there or there abouts now from how it felt last time. Will prob throw in some bottom up seated axle presses when backs a bit better, didn't think to try it like that last time.
